To provide a sustainable policy framework and enabling environment for climate change action in Nigeria and to regularly update information regarding national greenhouse gas emission, mitigation options, vulnerability assessment and adaptation measures to the impacts of climate change.

DCC Mandate:
The broad mandate of the Department is to coordinate activities towards national implementation of the Climate Change Convention, its Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement.
The ultimate objective: To stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.
Nigeria is currently implementing climate change activities in line with the UNFCCC, its Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement.
